Biography
Diversity marks Dieter's career, he is at home in nearly all musical genres from Classical through Jazz, Latin, Funk/Soul and HardRock/Metal.
He achieved recognition through his success as drummer of the KLAUS-LAGE-BAND, and internationally through his appearances with T.M. STEVENS.
SHORT BIOGRAPHY:
Dieter Steinmann began by teaching himself drumming from the age of 9. His first band and performance experiences came at the age of 13, from this point he performed in bands of the region in many different musical styles and settings.
He went on to study music at the Hochschule für Musik in Frankfurt am Main, majoring in orchestral percussion and Timpani, studying with Peter Wirweitzki (HR- Symphony Orchestra) and John Dvorachek (Frankfurt Museums Orchestra).
In addition he studied drumset with Fritz Matzka (Tokyo, W. Ambros), and in the USA with Gary Chaffee, Alan Dawson, Freddie Gruber, Jim Chapin, Johnny Lane among others. He attended the Frankfurter Jazz-Kurs with Christof Lauer, studied Latin-Percussion with Ralf Moufang (Darmstadt) and Marimba with Jürgen Niessner (Mainz).
Dieter completed his studies in 1986 gaining the Orchestral Diploma after 9 semesters, since then he is active as a freelance musician, composer and percussion teacher.

In addition Dieter composes contemporary percussion music.
Alongside his personal performance, Dieter is committed to teaching and working with the next generation. He is involved as a teacher as well as holding workshops and seminars.
